Samantha, Age 4
Incident: Samantha was running up the stairs at home when she slipped and fell, hitting her chin.
“We initially went to the closest hospital to our home, St. Joseph’s. I called my pediatrician, Dr. Anthony Grillo (Levittown), who recommended that I call Dr.STITCH. We did immediately, and left St. Joseph’s Hospital to meet Dr. Irena Karanetz at South Nassau Hospital. This was our first time dealing with trauma that needed stitches. We were nervous, it was on our daughter’s face and there was so much blood. Dr. Karanetz immediately calmed us and Samantha. She was wonderful, patient, kind and reassuring that Samantha would be okay and make a full recovery. After leaving the next few days I was so nervous that the site would get infected because the steri strips were peeling back a little. I must have called the office and spoke with the nurse’s line 3 times. They were wonderful. In fact, I was so upset so they gave me new steri strips to secure the old ones. I cannot express enough how Dr. Karanetz and all of the LIPSG staff helped and comforted us through each and every step. At our follow up appointment, we were greeted by the most professional and welcoming staff. Again, Dr. Karanetz was wonderful. Took her time examining and comforting Samantha. She answered all of my questions and was extremely thorough. Our entire family had the most wonderful experience during a not so wonderful time.”
